Who does what? Making housing more affordable in Mississauga

The Region of Peel and the City of Mississauga are addressing housing affordability challenges. In Mississauga, first-time homebuyers must be in the top 20% of income earners to afford an average home, while average rents exceed $2,000 for a one-bedroom unit. The Region oversees affordable housing, providing support to nearly 17,000 households, but currently meets only 19% of the community's needs. The City is focusing on middle-income families, offering incentives for development and affordable rental units, while also promoting garden suites and additional residential units.
